Dubai splits cleanly into two kinds of day: the built city — observation decks, malls, the marina — and the desert outside it. Most visitors want one of each, and the desert half is an evening commitment of six hours or more.
Summer heat is the constraint that overrides everything else. Between roughly June and September, outdoor experiences shift to early morning or after sunset, or stop making sense at all.

The only genuinely walkable historic quarter is Al Fahidi and the creek — everywhere else, walking is the wrong tool for this city.
Museum-going here is a small part of the trip; the observation decks are the ticketed anchor and they are timed.
The creek-side Deira food walks and the Emirati home-dining formats are the real local food story, not the mall restaurants.
A dhow on the creek and a marina cruise are different cities on the same water; the creek is the older and more interesting one.
